From Carnival Friday to Ash Wednesday, Madrid surrenders year after year to the celebration of the game of identities, with parties, parades, musical performances and many more activities. In recent years, the epicenter of the festivities has been Madrid Río and Matadero Madrid and the union between the most traditional and the festive atmosphere of Ibero-America. In 2024 it will be held from February 10 to 14. Don't forget to enjoy the carnival sardine!

Each year the city chooses a thematic thread that inspires all the events in the Madrid Carnival festival program. In recent years, Madrid Río and Matadero Madrid have been the epicenter of the celebrations with the proclamation, musical performances, the manteo of the pelele, the meeting of murgas and chirigotas and the symbolic “burial of the sardine” as the central events of this festival of the identity game.
